Free training on IBM Worklight - Mobile Development

EducationMobile foundation platform is the hotest topic around IBM.  You can pick up Worklight Developer Edition for free here and follow this training to get the essential skills.  It's a 2-day course that goes into a fair amount of depth (such as authentication, push notification, globalization and offline encrypted storage.)  Very handy.

 Impact 2008

EducationAnonymous writes "

This year, Impact 2008 is at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The attendance this year is well over 6000. As I was sitting in the Grand Arena, waiting for the Opening Session to begin, I could not believe how many people there were and more were coming in. Wow!

The opening session started with the University of Nevada in Las Vegas band walked in, quickly followed by the CIO of Harley Davidson on a nice, shiny Harley. He drove in onto the podium and quicked off Impact 2008.

We were also treated to acrobats (Cirque du Soleil maybe) performing to the sounds of violins.

The master of ceremony was Drew Carey and he, of course, brought us to tears with his knowledge of SOA. Throughout the session, between guest speakers, Drew Carey and his crew entertained us with Improv, truly, they were excellent. This was truly one of the best opening session of any conference I have been to.

This morning, Guest Speakers from IBM were Steven A Mills, Robert Leblanc, Tom Rosamilia and Sandy Carter. Non IBM Guest Speakers were James E Haney (Harley Davidson CIO) and Thomas Liese.

The opening session finished with Drew Cary and Robert Leblanc blindfolded and walking barefoot on mouse traps….You had to be there to believe it….

This years Impact has so many sessions, it is very difficult to choose which ones to attend. The ones I attended so far are Building Resilient SOA Infrastructures and Preparing your IBM System z network for SOA. Both were excellent.
