WebSphere Application Server (WAS) Administrator Job Description: Position can be filled as Server Sys Admin or Sr Server Sys Admin depending on skills of candidate selected. This position will be for a WAS System Administrator who is expected to perform the installation, configuration and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a WebSphere run-time environment. This includes product installation, configuration and deployment of J2EE applications, connecting to back-end resources and basic troubleshooting.It is expected that this System Administrator will be generally self-sufficient, and be able to perform most of the tasks involved in the role with limited assistance from peers, product documentation and vendor support services. Requirements: 3+ Years experience administering Websphere 4 and 5 application servers, Installation/Configuration of WebSphere Application Server and Websphere Deployment Manager, UNIX knowledge, IBM HTTP Server (IHS) (knowledge required), Experience using WebSphere Studio Application Monitor (WSAM) (Optional), Experience working with IBM Problem Management Record (PMR), Knowledge of these features in WAS, Creation and Administration of WAS Cells, Deployment of enterprise apps, Strong knowledge of Web Container and Ejb Container, Configuration and administration of ports (HTTP and End Points), Clusters,JVM configuration, Configure Port Listeners, Configure Connection factories and Queue Destinations, WAS JMS Provider (installation, configuration), URL Provider (configuration, administration), Use and administration of shared libraries, Enabled, configure Security using custom registry, Application Logins (JAAS), WebServices configuration, Session replication (memory to memory or using database), JNDI, Performance Monitoring Services, Dynacache configuration and administration, Experience with Vertical and Horizontal topologies, Session Management.
