Description
The Webmaster role is responsible for ensuring day to day operations and uptime of all web and web application servers required to keep a website functioning properly. This role reports directly to the Director, Online Marketing and will also be required to monitor and report on web server uptime and issues. This role will oversee e-commerce and promotional sites for multiple brands and will be required to respond to system outages 24x7 when necessary.
The Webmaster is expected to be a WebSphere application “super-user” that will be part of the business user team and the primary liaison to the I&T group. This position has a high level of responsibility and management interface time, so any candidate applying for the position should be highly organized, well spoken and personable. An understanding and experience with online marketing is an important qualification.
IBM HTTP Server (IHS, a derivative of the Apache web server) and WebSphere Application Server / WebSphere Commerce are the web server and web application servers (respectively) utilized by us.
Duties and Responsibilities
Use WebSphere Commerce tools to manage online store operations, including opening and closing stores when necessary.
Provide support in the use of WebSphere Commerce administrative tools (Org Admin, WCS Console, WCS Accelerator) to other business users (training can be provided.)
Know and understand business processes and software, including IBM Sales Center (training can be provided.)
Input, review and deployment of content using the IBM Workplace Web Content Management (WCM) system.
Support the Marketing department in the launch and management of online marketing campaigns.
Support the search team in use of search engine optimization and the use of analytics tools.
Provide input and ideas for improvements to website
Accept and properly route or address incoming site visitor communications sent to the ‘webmaster’ email account. Coordinate responses in time critical situations.
Act as a technical expert liaison between the marketing department and the IT department.
Support customer service, software developers and project managers in identification and resolution of issues relating to website operations and content management operations.
Skills / Attributes, Required
Experience in working effectively within a demanding, high availability environment.
Previous experience with ecommerce website design, development and maintenance.
Demonstrated understanding of standards-based coding, browser compatibility issues, and web design constraints.
Strong knowledge of the Web and its technologies, tools, vendors, and products.
Experience working with mission critical ecommerce applications.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong communication skills.
Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills.
Good ability to work as part of a team.
