WebSphere-World :: View topic - Webpshere 4.0 AES Installation & IBM HTTP Server woes...
In attempting (several times) to install Websphere 4.0 AES on a Win2k adv server machine I finally noticed during the install that the IBM HTTP Server directory is filled with what you\'d expect - the standard HTTP server directories: bin, htdocs, conf and so on...well after the entire websphere installation ends, it seems that the http server installation was backed out because only the htdocs & conf directories remain. I could install the http server manually, but I have no idea as to what changes need to be made to the httpd.conf file to make the http server talk to websphere. I\'d appreciate any suggestions! Thanks.
One thing you could do is to run the WebSphere installation again, but this time, a Custom install, and select the IHS plugin only. It will prompt you for the location of your httpd.conf and add the lines required for the WAS plugin automatically.
Thanks Billy - I wound up reinstalling windows on my machine and the install went through just fine the first time.
I do have another issue - I also installed Websphere Studio Application Developer 4.0.3 (on the same machine) and I can\'t seem to figure out how to properly create a server configuration & instance - WSAD tries to start the server even if it\'s already running and then complains about ports being in use (duh!). Also WSAD tries to run all my projects from the built-in Test Environment - which is fine, but I can\'t switch to my AEs installation. It doesn\'t seem too intuitive. Any good tuts/pdfs out there (so I don\'t keep buggin you)? Thanks!
